Frocks, fun hair pieces and fillies (well almost). Last Thursday Ted & Olive Boutique (Wagga and Kingston ACT) held a fashion parade in the leadtime up to Wagga’s Gold Cup. We were all lucky to enjoy some of Marea' Bright and Rebecca Hillis’s creative hats on show.

Barbara Parnell, long time member of The Riverine Club loved the Fashion and Food evening, catching up with Millener Marea Bright.  Barbara and Marea studied millinery together many years ago.

Singing Sixties Sensations

Over the past three week’s the Riverine Club held a cabaret show in collaboration with Wagga’s School of Arts Theatre (SOAT) celebrating the iconic female vocalists of the 1960’s. The producction was directed by Lee Kennedy, who together with renowned Musical Director Nicky Rosengren selected a cast of talented vocalists to represent several the 60’s female stars. They include Dusty Springfield, Cilla Black, Sandy Shaw to mention just a few. These well remembered songs had the audience singing along to hits such as You Don’t Have to say You Love me, Downtown, Son of a Preacher Man, and Only Want to be with You. Pastorale provided the 3-course menu for the event making this show a quality presentation in every way.

Life Members Lunch - Friday 14th October 2022

Not all of our Life Members could attend, but the luncheon was a joyous few hours last Friday. The guest list was a veritable who's who of the Club, past President, John Brockhouse (1969) and his wife Di, Michael Kennedy (1964), Fred Horsley (1958) and his wife Noela, Belinda Cox whose husband Alan joined in 1963, Nikki Woodhouse whose husband joined in 1953, Margaret Foster whose husband Digby joined in 1953 and Barbara Parnell, whose husband Jim joined in 1948.

Board members who joined the Life Members were engaged by the stories and the camaraderie of this group of wizened folk.

The Story of "The Country Lunch" - Friday 7th September 2022

Country folk love to gather!  Last Friday our Club 'sung' with 147 people gathering inside due to the inclement weather.  Table captains did a marvellous job of bringing so many people from far and wide.  Thank you Bernard Whyte, Ian Horsley, Simon Playfair, Ian Hope, Judy Grant, Mary and Glen Lucas, Annette and David Lamont, Mary-Helen Martens, Robyn Gooden, Joyce Barrett and Richard Pottie.

The day started at 11:30 with bubbles and joyous greetings between people who had obviously not seen one another for quite a time.  It took some time to seat the 147 people for lunch, but eventually the gathering sat and enjoyed an afternoon of food and wine.

Table Captains, driven by Susan Pottie, managed to sell several hundred raffle tickets, raising $2,300 for a much needed defibrillator at the Club!  Caroline Buchan was the grateful winner of a bottle of Penfold's Grange Hermitage.
Special thanks must go to Jenni Stephenson for her picking of fresh flowers from her garden and setting up the beautiful arrangements. Photos of the guests are scarce, but the below photos show off the beauty of the Club on the day of The Country Lunch

The Riverine Club Ball - Saturday 20th August 2022

The Riverine Club looked marvellous on Saturday 20th August where we hosted The Riverine Club Ball. It was a glamorous evening enjoyed by 210 young folk who danced the night away. They enjoyed the music of DJ VinoandVinyl, Millie and Harry and the food by Pastorale. Riverina Gin's Jake Eaglesham was delighted to be involved, showing off his beautiful gin.
