Obituary, Daily Advertiser of Wagga Wagga, 12 March 2008
Mr Houen was a well known partner at Creaghe Lisle solicitors, becoming a partner in the firm in 1967, one year after moving to Wagga from Sydney.
Friend and colleague Anthony Paul described Mr Houen’s involvement with Rotary, the church, Riverina Anglican College and sport as “fantastic.”
“He was loved by his clients and staff and was an integral part of the firm,” he said.
“His contribution to Wagga through many organisations was fantastic.
“He had a brilliant legal mind and used his legal expertise to help many groups.”
Close friend Neil Stubbs said Mr Houen’s passing was a huge loss to the community.
“I don’t think people know of the depth of his involvement in the community,” he said.
“It is a loss to many business people in the Wagga community.
“He was just a fun person to be around, open and generous.”
